The Public Environment Report (PER)
As part of NEL, some species listed as threated under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) have been located within the project area (specifically at the Simpsons Barracks in the City of Banyule). As there is likely to be a significant impact to these species within Commonwealth Land, a delegate of the Minister of Environment and Energy determined that NEL would be assessed by a Public Environment Report (PER).
The PER includes information on how the project could affect matters of national environmental significance, such as federally listed threatened species and communities, migratory species and the environment on Commonwealth land (as opposed to Council/State Land found in the EES) during construction and operation and how adverse impacts would be managed.
Given the national significance of the Act, Council has prepared a submission in relation to the PER. View the Manningham Council Public Environment Report for the North East Link Project - 30 May 2019 (177.46 KB)
