Manningham Council is continuing its commitment to assist with crime prevention and enhanced resident safety by providing a loan vehicle to local Doncaster police.

Manningham Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Victoria Police to lend a Ford Territory Wagon free of charge for general police purposes in the municipality.

In return, Victoria Police has agreed to provide expanded police services relating to road and community safety for the next three years.

Manningham Mayor, Cr Paul McLeish, said Manningham Council has been taking part in this initiative for more than 20 years and is proud of what it has achieved.

“Providing this car to Doncaster Police has enabled them to improve responsiveness to our community, providing a greater police presence to address crime, traffic and public order issues.”

“This is a great example of how police and Council can work in partnership together to achieve a safe and more vibrant Manningham,” he said.

The loan vehicle has been successfully used to target criminals, perform surveillance and target traffic offenders for speed, alcohol, seatbelt and mobile phone offences. It is also utilised for proactive initiatives with our youth and multicultural communities.
