Manningham Council is planning a new playground and a range of improvements for the northern part of Schramms Reserve in Doncaster and is seeking feedback from the community on the proposed upgrade.

Manningham’s Open Space Strategy aims to provide one playspace per 10,000 residents and the concept plan for this upgrade has been developed with the growing population of Doncaster in mind.

The new playground and improvements will be located near the Board Street entrance adjacent to the junior sporting oval. It will complement the existing playground area, which is approximately 400 metres away.

Schramms Reserve is an important reserve in Doncaster and the new playground is part of the implementation of our Open Space Development Program in 2016/17.

A concept plan has been developed for the upgrade and is now available for comment. To view and have your say, visit www.yoursaymanningham.com.au/schramms-reserve

Highlights of the proposed upgrade include:

  • A new playground that will include a range of play features, catering to older children, including students from nearby Doncaster High School
  • A mixture of play equipment and nature-based play elements
  • New landscaping, including low garden beds for colour and texture
  • New seating and picnic tables
  • Informal seating areas that will look over the adjacent junior sporting oval
  • Shade provided by the existing mature trees.

The consultation closes on Tuesday 20 September 2016.

The new playground and works are anticipated to be completed by June 2017.
