Disc Golf, also known as Frisbee Golf, is a fun recreational activity for people of all ages.
The aim of the game is to throw your disc from the tee pad into an elevated metal basket in the least number of throws.
Want to give it a try but don’t know where to start? The Doncaster Library can help. Discs can be borrowed from the library. It’s the same process as borrowing books and disc stocks have just been topped up.
Once you have some discs, grab a group of friends and head down to Manningham’s home of disc golf at Ruffey Lake Park. Bookings are not required.
The course is 18-holes, with two baskets for each tee and is completed over two laps. The landscape is varied, and trees provide unique obstacles that add to the challenge.
So, dive into disc golf, it’s fun, free, and suits all ages and most fitness levels.
Discs can be borrowed with a Whitehorse Manningham Library card, for up to three weeks at a time. Return the discs to the library. You can use the after-hours chute if the library is closed when you want to return them.
If you don’t have a library card, you’ll need your photo ID with a current address to sign up for a library account (you do not have to live in Manningham to open a library account).
View disc availability via the online library catalogue.

Ready to get active this spring but need inspiration? Don’t feel ready or have the motivation to get moving? Feel self-conscious and don’t know how or where to start?
Then look no further, This Girl Can Week is back!
We’re supporting This Girl Can week, a VicHealth campaign that aims to inspire and empower women and girls, with an invitation to join in and get active with us regardless of age, size, background, gender identity or ability.
It’s a week that celebrates and encourages diversity in sport and physical activity.
During the week, 9 to 15 October, local sporting clubs and groups are hosting a range of free or low-cost events. The program is designed to provide safe, inclusive and friendly environments for women and girls to get involved.
This Girl Can Week will run from 9 to 15 October 2023.
This Girl Can week is about helping participants overcome fears and feelings about judgement, not being fit enough or not belonging.
Activities will provide the kind of welcoming support you need to get active and participate. Be empowered to focus on how getting active makes you feel, not what others think!
This week also celebrates and encourages women to get involved in a variety of ways; whether it’s a solo workout or the camaraderie of a group or team you’re looking for, the program has you covered.
All activities are free or low-cost, and registrations are required.
Events made possible thanks to our VicHealth Local Government Partnership.
More information about the campaign, and helpful resources such as exercise drills and tips are available on the This Girl Can website.
