This in person session includes how solar power and battery systems work, buying good quality solar and battery products, quoting, installation and Council subsidies, rebates and much more.
Its free to attend but bookings are essential.
This event is part of our Inspired Living Series. This series showcases an exciting range of fun and sustainable activities and events for all ages, supporting sustainability at home, in the community and at work.
The Men’s Table creates a unique environment for men to share openly about their lives with other men.
The Entree event is an introduction to The Men’s Table through open sharing over a relaxed and conversational meal.
It is a chance to meet other men, learn about how a Table works and help you decide whether you'd like to part of this local Men’s Table group.
The event will be hosted by two long standing members of other Men's Tables. They will share experiences from their Tables and respond to your questions, concerns and ideas.
The cost of the event includes a meal and a drink.
This event is proudly supported by Manningham's Community Grants Program.
About the Men's Table
There's never been a better time to get connected and be part of building community. It's healthy to show emotions and share feelings, and it is time we freed men from outdated masculine norms.
The Men’s Table creates a sense of belonging, community, peer support and camaraderie. These things are often lacking for many men, even for those who already have a group of mates.
Belonging to a Men’s Table contributes to mental, emotional and social wellbeing. It provides powerful support to individual member’s journeys through life.
Take part in one of the biggest Citizen Science projects in the world while at the same time contributing valuable information about Manningham’s amazing biodiversity.
About the City Nature Challenge
The City Nature Challenge runs from Friday 26 April to Monday 29 April 2024.
In this worldwide BioBlitz, cities compete to make the most observations of the most species by the most people.
Manningham is collaborating with over 25 local governments to form the Greater Melbourne project.
How to participate
It is free, easy, and fun to get involved.
During the 4-day window of this challenge, take photos of plants or animals and upload it to iNaturalist.
Your observations will be added to the Manningham iNaturalist projects (Manningham East or Manningham West) so that we can compete with participants from across Melbourne and all over the world.
All data gets added to Australia’s database of plants and animals, helping scientists with their research to improve outcomes for our environment.
To prepare for the challenge:
- Install the iNaturalist app on your mobile phone and create an iNaturalist account
- Join the Melbourne City Nature Challenge 2023: Greater Melbourne Project
- Start adding your observations.
The Community Infrastructure Plan will direct Manningham’s significant investment in new and upgraded infrastructure and guide decisions to decommission those assets that no longer meet the needs of the community. It reflects two of our Council Plan 2021–2025 priorities for liveable places and spaces and for a healthy community.
Focus areas:
- Early Years
- Young People
- Libraries and learning spaces
- Arts and Culture
- Community meeting spaces
- Community Services (medical and legal services, material aid and aged care).
Council Plan theme
While Manningham Council’s preferred method of payment is our Accounts Payable system, the Procurement Card is designed to provide a convenient and cost effective way of purchasing when using the preferred method is not possible.
Focus areas:
- control features including authorisation of the card issuance, card limits, transaction limits, approval controls and weekly/monthly reconciliations
- reducing the instances of reimbursements to employees
- ensuring all transactions on the Procurement Card form part of the Council records and are available for release under Freedom of Information requests.

Toilets allow people to spend more time in public spaces to socialise, exercise, recreate, learn, support local businesses and to engage with their community. Equitable access is critical for the health, wellbeing and diversity of a community.
Focus areas:
- opening up five existing toilets to provide new public toilet facilities
- constructing new public toilet facilities in eleven locations
- upgrading older style toilets to improve safety and be gender inclusive
- conduct accessibility audits and upgrade access paths to public toilet facilities
- provide Changing Places at major destinations around Manningham
- provide public toilets along linear trails at regular intervals as site conditions permit
- investigate a program of artworks on blank walls of toilet buildings to raise awareness of our toilet facilities, improve perceptions of safety and activate public spaces.
Council Plan theme
We recognise the emerging popularity of car share as a flexible and more sustainable alternative to private vehicle ownership. Car sharing contributes to key sustainability goals by reducing reliance on private vehicles. It acts as a complementary service enabling households to rely more on public transport as their primary form of transport.
Focus areas:
- providing Council with a framework to manage all relevant aspects of car share schemes in Manningham in an equitable and fair manner
- achieving an increased uptake of car share services by Manningham residents
- contributing to a mode-shift from private vehicles towards more sustainable transport options.

Council Plan theme
Transport systems shape cities, build lifestyles and drive local economies, and a well-integrated transport network often underpins the successful operation of a city.
Focus areas:
- improve current transport options including bus and active transport
- reinforce advocacy for the Doncaster Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Suburban Rail Loop (SRL)
- actions that will assist Manningham to move towards sustainable transport technologies such as on-demand bus services, car-share schemes and electric vehicles
- support the concept of achieving a City of 20-minute neighbourhoods throughout the municipality.
